About the project
WESTAL d.o.o. Bihać is one of the leading Home & Garden centers in Bosnia and Herzegovina, with more than 30,000 products. The project included the development of a complete web system from scratch, without a framework and adapted to a PHP 7.4 shared-hosting environment.
The challenge
The client needed a single system that combines a classic CMS for news, categories and galleries with a functional webshop, all managed through one secure multi-user administration panel.
Key functionality
- CMS module — news management with TinyMCE, YouTube/Vimeo embeds, automated Facebook publishing, product categories, galleries, custom pages and a careers module with CV upload.
- Webshop module — product catalogue, cart, checkout, order management, product galleries, technical specifications and stock control.
- Administration — multiple user roles, reports, revenue overview, filters and CSV/Excel exports.
- Security — two-factor authentication, a hidden administration URL and brute-force protection.
- Additional features — live search, push notifications, GDPR cookie consent, structured data, sitemap integration and database backup/restore.
Technical approach
The system was built in clean PHP 7.4 with PDO and MySQL, with special attention to compatibility with shared hosting and long-term maintainability.
Result
WESTAL received a complete web platform that its team can manage independently through an intuitive administration panel. The website is live at westal.ba.
